Insurance in Florida is not insurance any more it is just and excuse to make money from every home and keep as much as you can. Homeowners are not covered if it floods, for termites, or sink holes if you don't carry special coverage. At the time of a Hurricane you dedutables goes up and you may not hear from your insurance agent or company for many months. WE NEEED to scrape the whole system and start a system that is concerned about saving peoples property and not making a profit. pROFIT IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY IS A DIRTY WORD. My solution is to form a simple coop of assurance that will cover your house and property in case of damage. That will have the local contacts to get your home repaired fast and within county codes. Use a network for tree removal, pest control to protect against termites and some type of mortgage protection in case of sink holes. Residents should pay ,but it should in line with what they can afford. If you have a 50,000 home you pay for 50,000 worth of assurance if you have a 1,000,000 home you pay for a million dollar assurance policy. I know that there are alot of things to work out, but we cannot continue to throw money into insurance and reinsurance and get no insurance.Throw the insurance companies out they do not work for us the people.
